Law Office Management Committee Members

The Law Office Management committee comprises of managers from different areas within law firms who volunteer their time to sit on a committee that aims to provide services to aid Law Office Managers around Western Australia.

The Law Office Management Committee members are:

	Corene Baird, Convenor Office Manager – Maxim Litigation Consultants Corene has worked as an administrator in the legal profession since 1991 when she started at D'Alessandro & Associates. She has been an Office Manager of law firms since 1995 after moving to Marks & Sands (known then as Marks Healy Sands) in 1994. Corene then moved on in 2000 to be the Office Manager at Blakiston & Crabb for 8.5 years and has recently joined Maxim Litigation Consultants as their Office Manager as of November 2008. Corene has been a member of the Law Society of WA's Law Office Management section since 1996 and the Law Office Management Committee since 2002 (as Convenor since 2003). As part of this role Corene is actively involved in co-ordinating seminars through the committee, organising the bi-annual Law Office Management Expo and other networking events for the members of this section of the Society. Corene is also a member of the Legal Practice Section of the Law Council of Australia and also of the Australian Legal Practice Management Association.
	Brett Davies FTIA, B Juris, LLB, LLM, BA(Hons), DipEd, MBA, Deputy Convenor Brett Davies Lawyers Brett was the first person in the world to lodge a prospectus to list law firms on the stock exchange (ASX:IAW). Brett is also passionate about how law firms operate. While now sitting on the Law Council of Australian's Business Law Section, he was previously national chair of the Australian Law Management Group, 2001 - 2004 (Committee, 1997 - 2007; Editorial Committee, 1997 - 2007) and Councillor, Legal Practice Section, 2000 - 2006, Treasurer 2004 - 2006. Brett lectured in Estate Planning for the Bachelor of Commerce and Masters of Financial Planning students at Curtin University. He also lectured out of his home state in Tax at Western Sydney University for their Master's programme.
	Gail Anderson Human Resources Manager, Clayton Utz Gail Anderson has been in a management role within the area of human resources since 1994. She is currently the Human Resources Manager of Clayton Utz, Perth. It is a position she has held since 1995. Gail manages a local team of HR and Learning & Development practitioners and is part of a national human resources team under the direction of a national Human Resources Director. The Perth office comprises 215 legal and support staff with a national staff number of over 2000 people.
	Lex Payne Legal Aid WA Lex is the Director of Regions at Legal Aid WA . Since being with Legal Aid, Lex has practiced mainly in the criminal law area as well as taking up senior management roles at Legal Aid. In the past, Lex has been the Solicitor in Charge of the Fremantle Office, Solicitor in Charge of the Criminal Law Section, General Manager of the Legal Practice Division and now the Director of Regions. Lex has been a member of the Law Society of WA since 1980 and has served on a number of committees over the years. Lex is currently serving on both the Criminal Law Committee and the Law Office Management Committee. Lex is also a member of the Criminal Lawyers Association of WA and the Australian Institute of Judicial Administration.
	Julie Richards- LLB(Hons), B App Sci (Lib Studies) Legal Information Manager - Lavan Legal Julie has worked in her current position as Legal Information Manager for the past 23 years. She joined Phillips Fox in 1986. Lavan Legal was formed on 3 April 2006 as the result of a merger between Bennett & Co and Phillips Fox Perth. Lavan Legal is the largest independent law firm in Perth with 21 partners and over 200 staff.
	Kim J Mead CPA FTIA  Director, Practice Management Professionals Principal of Practice Management Professionals, Management and Systems Consultants which provides numerous products and consultancy services to the legal profession. A registered CPA with over 20 years experience within the legal profession, initially in senior management roles with larger legal practices before creating my own consultancy with the main focus of assisting small to medium practices in areas such as Practice Management, Productivity and Systems and IT usage.
