David is a senior manager with over 25 years’ experience and prior to commencing at the Law Society of Western Australia, David held senior roles in local government including as Chief Executive Officer at the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale and Chief Executive Officer at the City of Nedlands.
As Chief Executive Officer of the Law Society, David reports to an elected Council and has responsibility for both the Law Society of Western Australia and Law Mutual (WA).
David’s qualifications include a Master of Business Administration, a Graduate Diploma of Business in Management Studies and a Diploma in Business Management.

Susie has extensive experience in law, policy and advocacy gained through working with membership organisations and in private legal practice. Susie was admitted as a legal practitioner in Western Australia in 1998, and practiced at Jackson McDonald and Blake Dawson Waldron before moving overseas to London. Upon her return to Perth, Susie worked in private legal practice and at the Law Society of Western Australia as a Policy Lawyer. Susie most recently worked at the Western Australian Local Government Association (WALGA) as the Policy Manager, Resilient Communities, with responsibility for social policy, emergency management policy and Aboriginal affairs. Susie holds a LLB/BA and a Masters of Urban and Regional Planning (with Distinction) from the University of Western Australia.

Marketing, Business Development and Community Engagement
Áine Whelan is the General Manager Marketing, Business Development and Community Engagement at the Law Society of Western Australia. She is responsible for membership services, marketing, business development and community engagement services. Áine has a background in the performing arts holding an honours degree in music from Trinity College Dublin and an Arts Management Degree from the internationally recognised Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). She has produced and toured a wide range of arts and cultural events in Australia, Europe and Asia. With over 25 years experience in management and program planning, she has successfully transferred this accumulated knowledge to senior positions in Government, the corporate sector and academia. Holding an Executive MBA from the University of Western Australia, Áine is passionate about combining her diverse skills and experience in the arts, education and the professional services sectors to realise ideas and lead best practice.

John commenced as the General Manager Law Mutual (WA) in June 2015. Prior to this appointment John was a Senior Consultant at MYR Consulting, a business and risk management consultancy based in Western Australia. He commenced his professional career as an articled clerk at Jackson McDonald, having obtained his legal qualifications at the University of Western Australia. John was a partner at Phillips Fox for three years prior to moving to the insurance industry in 1991.
He has held several senior management positions within GIO, AMP and Suncorp’s general insurance businesses, the most recent as Executive General Manager of GIO & Vero Personal Insurance based in Sydney. John relocated to Perth in 2012 as a result of joining MYR Consulting.
