The Legal Costs Committee will be reviewing the non-contentious costs determinations in 2021. These determinations are the Probate Determination, the Notaries Public Determination and the Solicitors Costs Determination. These determinations cover all non-contentious work undertaken by lawyers in Western Australia and have largely been in the same format since their introduction.
In the consultation phase of the 2021 review, you are invited to consider these determinations and engage in a discussion about their scope, utility and room for improvement. Are there gaps in coverage of non-contentious work? Do they require more or fewer items? Are the most appropriate methods of costs utilised? What would make the determinations easier to use and understand? What additions or deletions would you recommend?
This is an interactive session and you will be expected to have read the determinations in advance so that you can engage in the discussion.
