About the event

Since the Construction Contracts Act (WA) (the Act) was enacted in 2004, the number of payment disputes dealt with by way of adjudication under the Act has steadily grown. The value of these claims has also increased, with the mean value of payment claims in the year ending June 2016 more than $3 million. In June 2014, Professor Phil Evans was appointed to enquire into, make recommendations and report on the operation and effectiveness of the Act. The Evans Report was completed in 2015 and, in December 2016, significant amendments were made to the Act.

A panel of speakers host a discussion on the impact of these amendments and provide practical tips for lawyers in assisting their clients to commence and respond to adjudication applications within the tight timeframes set out in the Act. This seminar provides a unique opportunity to hear from the author of the Evans Report, senior construction disputes lawyers, an adjudicator, and a highly experienced contract manager and quantity surveyor.
