Anti-bribery and Corruption: the brave new world

Wednesday 12th October, 2016 5:00 pm – Wednesday 12th October, 2016 6:00 pm
The Law Society of Western Australia
Level 5, 160 St Georges Terrace PERTH

Anti-bribery and corruption compliance has become a big issue for Australian companies doing business around the world. Likely changes to the regulatory and enforcement landscape in this area make this a topical area of real and practical interest to Western Australian practitioners and their clients.

The session covers recent Australian events and global trends (Australian Senate Enquiry, Unaoil and Panama Papers), the Australian legal framework and what you need to know about the FCPA (US) and Bribery Act (UK), corporate culture and governance, facilitation payments and best practice systems and experience. It will also consider aspects of the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth). Case studies will be used to show both best and worst practice in action, providing a valuable learning experience for attendees.

Mark Darian-Smith and Varun Ghosh will lead a lively and informative discussion on this fascinating area of practice.
