The Law Society is working with the profession to reduce the need for parties to have their matter heard in a court room before a court officer. One avenue is through improving cooperation among family law lawyers through mandatory ‘person to person’ conferral where appropriate. The requirement of conferral in other Western Australian superior courts operated to reduce time required for interlocutory hearings. There is already some requirements for conferral. This seminar is aimed at fostering and extending that conferral where practicable and appropriate.
This seminar will be chaired by Kim Morrison (Head of Practice – Family Law, Cullen Macleod Lawyers) and run as a panel discussion with senior members of the profession who need little introduction:
Discussion topics will include a perspective on how to confer effectively, overcoming real and perceived barriers to conferral, the bench’s expectations on conferral, followed by a Q&A.
NB: The Law Society have applied for accreditation points for this seminar.
