Debt recovery litigation

Wednesday 16th March, 2016 4:30 pm – Wednesday 16th March, 2016 6:00 pm
Law Society of Western Australia
Level 5, 160 St Georges Terrace Perth

It often takes years of doing debt recovery litigation to be able to “see ahead” to the roadblocks, costs and delays that can happen – so that choices can be made early on about what procedures and tools are best to use.

This practical seminar by Magistrate Marleen Boon and Richard Graham (author of Magistrates Court Civil Procedure by LexisNexis) will examine:

  • trends seen by the Court
  • steps lawyers should take to avoid delays
  • when, and when not, to apply for default and summary judgment
  • recurring issues that arise when it comes to enforcement
  • what advice to provide clients about the best enforcement option

Practical precedents will be provided and explained.

Level: Intermediate

  • 0.5 points Competency 2 Professional Skills
