Employment law forum

Thursday 16th November, 2017 1:30 pm – Thursday 16th November, 2017 5:00 pm
The Law Society of Western Australia
Level 5, 160 St Georges Terrace Perth

At some point in their career, most legal practitioners will be approached by a client with an employment law query.  This is a very fast changing area of law and it can be difficult for general legal practitioners to keep up with the latest developments.

The Employment Law Forum hosts a discussion by a high profile panel of speakers to provide a helpful snapshot of current issues in employment law. The panel discussion, chaired by  Charmaine Tsang  provides a unique opportunity to hear from the Deputy President of the Fair Work Commission, a Senior Counsel who specialises in industrial relations law, and the Legal Manager for the Australian Building and Construction Commission.

The speakers address issues including the most common problems tripping up unfair dismissal and general protections claims as well as negotiating and lodging enterprise agreements, the rights and remedies available when a party repudiates a contract of employment, and how the new Building Code alters what can be included and excluded in enterprise agreements within the construction industry.
