About the event

Developing your personal brand as a law professional is not about having a ‘rockstar’ brand, splashed everywhere online. Sophisticated and effective personal branding is about understanding how you influence other people’s opinions of you, and then implementing tools to amplify your value in their eyes.  It’s about expanding your range of influence – your power to present ideas that are seen and heard.

This presentation, created for first release at the Law Society of Western Australia, includes the following discussion points:

  • How your personal brand is shaped, in person and online – with or without your knowledge.
  • The problem of appearing too pushy, forward or self-promotional versus being overlooked or underestimated.
  • Social psychologist Adam Galinksy’s research on the low-power and self-promotion double-binds, and his findings on what works to expand your range of influence.
  • Practical applications for shaping your personal brand to change how people see you and increase the likelihood of being heard.
