Law Mutual (WA) seminar: You’re not my client; are you?

Tuesday 11th July, 2017 11:00 am – Tuesday 11th July, 2017 12:00 pm
The Law Society
Level 5, 160 St Georges Terrace Perth

In the majority of situations your client is easily identifiable. However, practitioners are often challenged to identify the client particularly when instructed by multiple persons or
entities or by intermediaries. Similarly, challenges can arise when dealing with corporations and other incorporated bodies. The problems are sometimes exacerbated as the profession
deals with the digital world of communication.

This seminar examines the reasonable measures a lawyer should take to identify the client, those measures that should be taken to repudiate the existence of the solicitor/client
relationship and appropriate strategies to ensure that a third party does not become a client.

In this context the seminar addresses issues of communication, authority and loyalty.
