In the first quarter of 2020 there will be significant changes to the practice and procedure in the civil division of the Magistrates Court. Both General Procedure Claims and Minor Case Claims will be affected. The purpose of the changes is to allow greater freedom and flexibility for General Procedure litigants whilst bringing Minor Case litigants to court, and to the negotiating table, more swiftly. The changes will affect all stages of litigation.
This session will provide a clear summary of the changes in anticipation of the introduction to ensure that the profession is well informed of the new rules just prior to their implementation.
