This presentation will focus on current issues of interest to maritime law practitioners.
Dr Saraceni will discuss recent developments in: (a) demurrage in voyage charter parties and whether it is an exclusive remedy in light of the “Eternal Bliss” decision(s), (b) ship building contracts and in particular use of refund guarantees, and (c) ship arrests.
Mr Thomas will discuss recent developments concerning judicial sales of ships, including the adoption of the United Nations Convention on the International Effects of Judicial Sales of Ships and recent decisions of the Federal Court of Australia.
Mr Nair will chair the presentation.
