Level 17, 225 St George’s Terrace Perth
The Young Lawyers Committee is pleased to announce a new event!
It is important that we strive to ensure that working conditions in the legal profession are such that law clerks, graduates and lawyers can thrive, and be empowered to best contribute to their workplaces, their clients and the profession, all the while maintaining their physical and mental wellbeing, and lives outside of the workplace. In recent years there has been a spotlight on issues such as long working hours, sexual harassment and mental health in the legal profession.
The Law Society of Western Australia’s Fair, Safe and Inclusive Legal Workplaces Guidelines aim to address these issues by promoting fair access to employment in the legal profession and ways to support the health and wellbeing of employees engaged in the legal profession, by providing comprehensive and practical recommendations for law firms and other organisations employing lawyers, paralegals and law clerks.
Join the Young Lawyers Committee for a panel discussion to learn more about these important issues facing the legal profession, how they can be addressed, and how you can apply the Guidelines in your workplace.
Chaired by Demi Swain, Chair, Young Lawyers Committee, hear from those that were instrumental in drafting the Guidelines and those that are passionate about improving the lives of young lawyers.
Our stellar line-up includes:
- Hon Matt Keogh MP, Former Law Society President, Former YLC Chair, and Minister for Veterans’ Affairs and Defence Personnel
- Ante Golem, President, Law Society of Western Australia
- Aleks Miller, Deputy Chair, Young Lawyers Committee
- Holly Gretton, Lawyer, Hall & Wilcox
