This seminar is also being delivered as a webinar.

This session presented by Dr Felicity Morel-EdnieBrown will discuss the new gender paradigm: what it is; why it’s important; what you need to know, and what you need to do about it.

Gender has been a hot topic over the past few years with recent events throwing into the spotlight contentious issues such as consent, domestic violence, workplace equality, and the impact of pornography and sexual toxicity in the resources industry, amongst other industries.  Although much of this debate has focused on the disparity between male and female, gender is far more complex and nuanced than a binary divide.

Dr Morel-EdnieBrown will contextualize and touch on the core issues regarding gender. In doing so, she will explain some of the history surrounding the concept of gender as well as provide tips for how you can support gender diversity and encourage gender parity in the workplace.

The session will help you:

  • understand the context for the new gender paradigms unfolding in the 21st century;
  • learn what gender is and is not;
  • recognise 18 prevalent gender typologies;
  • discover how to use gender neutral inclusive language; and
  • understand the impact of the top five unconscious biases in relation to gender.
