What happens where one partner is in Australia on a spousal visa and the relationship breaks down? What about visas without family violence provisions?
These are just some of the many situations when family law and migration law intersect.
In these scenarios, it is imperative that legal professionals are able to consider a situation not just from one perspective of specialised law.
Alice Graziotti, senior immigration adviser and lawyer, will take a look at different scenarios where the areas of family law and immigration law become a delicate balancing act. Guest speaker Claire Faulkner, also a senior immigration adviser and lawyer with a special focus on gender-based persecution, will explore issues of domestic violence in the context of the protection visa framework.
The session will be chaired by Daniel Estrin, partner at Estrin Saul Lawyers and Migration Specialists.
