New Judicial Appointments

Thursday, 11 April 2019

The Law Society of Western Australia congratulates Jennifer Hill and the Hon Justice John Vaughan, who have been appointed to the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal respectively. The appointments are effective from 4 June 2019, the Attorney General the Hon John Quigley MLA has announced.

Law Society President Greg McIntyre SC said, “On behalf of the wider WA legal profession, I wholeheartedly congratulate Jennifer Hill and the Honourable Justice Vaughan on their respective appointments.

“Justice Vaughan and Ms Hill are both highly valued and engaged members of the Law Society. Justice Vaughan has been a member of the Law Society since prior to his admission to legal practice in 1992. He is a member of the Law Council of Australia’s Insolvency and Reconstruction Committee and was previously a Deputy Convenor and member of a number of the Society’s Continuing Professional Development Committees.

“Ms Hill has been a valued member of the Law Society since 1994. She is a member of the Law Society’s Courts Committee, Joint Law Society/Women Lawyers of Western Australia Committee and ex-officio member of the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Committee.

“Both Justice Vaughan and Ms Hill are highly experienced practitioners – Ms Hill has been a partner at a number of major firms, and is currently partner at Clifford Chance in the litigation and dispute resolution team. Justice Vaughan has had a similarly lengthy and successful legal career, and possesses significant judicial experience as a judge of the Supreme Court. I wish both Justice Vaughan and Ms Hill the very best in these new roles.”
