Notice of forthcoming Election of Council for 2016
The Council of the Law Society of Western Australia consists of:
- President – elected for one year
- Two Vice Presidents – elected for one year
- 12 Ordinary members – elected for two years
- One Country member – elected for two years
- Three Junior members – elected for one year
- Immediate Past President
The Council sets the strategic direction for the Society to ensure organisational excellence, high value membership and strong advocacy as the voice of the legal profession in Western Australia. It is important that the Law Society has a strong and enthusiastic Council.
On Tuesday, 6 October 2015, the Nomination Form for the election of Council for 2016 will be electronically transmitted to members eligible to stand for election.
Please ensure that the Law Society has your up-to-date email address. You are able to do this by logging in in the top right hand corner to update your email and contact details. Alternatively, you may contact Member Services on (08) 9324 8606, (08) 9324 8638 or (08) 9324 8649.
A Nomination Form signed by the nominee and countersigned by another member eligible to vote must be received by the Executive Director no later than 4.00pm on Thursday, 22 October 2015. Nominees must also
submit a statement of candidate (limit 150 words) and a portrait photograph. The statement and photograph will be included in the Voting Instructions provided to all voters.
The 2016 election will be conducted electronically by CorpVote Independent Voting Services. On Tuesday 10 November 2015 the ballot will be electronically transmitted to eligible members together with instructions on how to vote. The ballot will close on the election date of Tuesday, 24 November 2015.
Annual General Meeting
Notice of the 2015 Annual General Meeting will be electronically transmitted to all Society members.
The Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday, 27 October 2015 at 5.15pm at Level 36, QV1 Building, 250 St Georges Terrace, Perth.
