Do You Know Someone Worthy of Recognition?
The Law Society’s annual Lawyer of the Year Awards present an opportunity for the profession to nominate someone who has stood out to make a difference as a lawyer.
Each year Law Society members are invited to nominate a worthy recipient in the categories of:
- Lawyer of the Year (more than five years’ experience).
- Emerging Lawyer of the Year (less than five years’ experience).
Nomination Criteria
These awards acknowledge practitioners who have made a noteworthy contribution to the Western Australian legal profession and community, over and above their paid employment. The criteria for nominating someone are as follows:
The nominee has contributed over and above what might be reasonably expected through paid legal employment
The nominee has made a particularly noteworthy contribution to the Western Australian legal profession
The person is an outstanding example to the legal profession
The nominee does not need to be a Law Society member, but they must give their consent to being nominated and have been practising in Western Australia.
Announcement of award winners takes place at the Law Society’s Gala Awards Dinner each year.
Nominations for the 2024 Lawyer of the Year awards will open in late July 2024.
