Law Society Events

The Law Society organises a range of events for members and non-members including social, sporting and special interest events throughout the year.

These provide valuable opportunities for participants to meet others within and outside the legal profession. The diverse listing of events on the calendar this year includes dinners, sundowners, information evenings, sporting events and other informal functions.

Note: The Society endorses moderation and a responsible attitude towards alcohol at all Society functions

Join a Committee

More than 40 active committees have been established by volunteer members of the Law Society, covering a range of substantive law and other areas of interest. Many of the Law Society’s committees are policy committees that deal with references for comment from outside organisations and initiate comment on various legal and practice issues as and when they arise.

Committee membership is an exclusive benefit for Law Society members. Joining a committee is a great way to give back to the profession, influence the agenda and develop networks in different sectors of the profession.

Committee members are expected to abide by the committee standing orders and code of conduct. Committee membership is reviewed biennially, however expressions of interest are added to committee wait lists at any time. Should committee members resign prior to the next review, persons on the relevant wait lists will be considered to fill the vacancies.
