The Law Society of Western Australia commends the Attorney General’s announcement today that Mr Peter Quinlan SC will be the 14th Chief Justice of Western Australia.
Mr Quinlan SC is currently the Solicitor-General for Western Australia and a member of the Law Society. Prior to his appointment in July 2016, Mr Quinlan practised as a barrister for over 15 years, conducting a general practice with an emphasis on public law, native title and professional liability. He was appointed Senior Counsel in 2010 and was President of the WA Bar Association from 2012 to 2015.
Law Society President Hayley Cormann said, “Mr Quinlan SC is eminently suitable for this appointment, and an outstanding leader of the legal profession. I extend congratulations to him on behalf of the Law Society and our members on his appointment and wish him well. I look forward to continuing to work closely with him in his new role.”
