The Law Society of Western Australia

I had been considering joining The Law Society of WA for a while and decided to find out more by attending Law Week events. So impressed was I by the quality of the speakers and dialogue at the Long Lunch in 2022, that I signed up to join. I’m looking forward to being more involved with the legal community in WA through The Law Society.

Being a member of the Law Society helped me navigate my first few years in the legal profession, offering support and guidance through professional development, networking, and mentoring while promoting and fostering collegiality within the legal community.

Law Society membership is a no-brainer: it allows me to catch up with what’s important on the WA and national legal scene, meet colleagues and complete all CPD needs efficiently. These are critical supports for all but especially sole practitioners who comprise the majority of WA’s lawyers.

I consider being a member of the Law Society a fundamental part of my career. It provides me with opportunities to meet great people and to grow professionally, such as through being a member of the Brief Editorial Committee and the Council of the Law Society. It also helps me fulfill what I view as my wider obligations as a lawyer by organising a mentoring programme for law students and the mock trial programme where I can use my experience for something more than just assisting paying clients. I encourage everyone to join and become involved in the good work done by the Law Society.
